Salvador Dominguez (b. 1985, Zacatecas, Mexico) lives and works between Chicago, IL, and Los Angeles, CA. Like many first-generation immigrants, language is an important part of Dominguez’s narrative. Dominguez's practice transforms the vernacular objects and visual culture of Mexican American life into materially rich meditations on labor, memory, and belonging. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, and craft, he dissolves distinctions between the handmade and the manufactured, the domestic and the monumental, revealing how everyday objects become repositories for cultural identity.
