de boer is pleased to announce Oracle, a group exhibition bringing together the paintings of eight artists working in the United States. The exhibition features new works by Alison Blickle, Emily Marie Miller Coan, Renée Estée, Liza Jo Eilers, Kat Lowish, Ivana Štulić, Yuwei Tu, and Caroline Zurmely. Together through mythology and portraiture the paintings of these artists facilitate conversations about the present and the future.
Oracle reflects humanity's age-old search for meaning and guidance. Throughout history people have sought out divine and wise sources of knowledge to provide insight into their lives and the world around them. In this exhibition, mythological and public figures whose legacies often transcend mortality become narrative arcs that can be extended, rewritten, or completely destroyed. These avenues facilitate conversations about our present and the future, the personal identities and histories commingle and create a nuanced portrait of humanity's innate desire to find guidance.
